Algund-Mitterplars-Oberplars-Vellau
The path from Algund to Vellau leads you through a varied landscape of vineyards, ancient chestnut groves to lush green coniferous forests. The small fraction of Algund, with about 130 inhabitants, was first mentioned in 1347 with the name "Velaw".
Take path # 7 from the dairy in Algund turning left, cross the Alte Landstrasse at the Maratscherhof, pass Castle Plars and walk towards Oberplars. For a part of the way, the path runs alongside the Vellauer Strasse. Above the Bergerhof, the path makes a turn and leads you via the old Vellauerweg 26A, which is marked "Fussweg", and runs through the forest to the Vellau car park. Return journey by bus or using the lift facility.
Via the Adige Valley, take the MeBo expressway to the Algund exit.
Coming from Vinschgau, Algund is just before Merano.
This hike is possible throughout the year
Pay parking in the center of Algund, opposite the town hall.
By train to Merano and by bus line 235 to Algund.
