Burgweg - Ochsentodweg - Castle Tyrol
A leisurely hike that promises a wonderful view of the Merano region.
You can already feel the Mediterranean climate here.
This hike is also suitable for families.
The hike starts at the valley station of the Vellau chairlift in Mitterplars. You follow the Burgweg path # 20 until you reach the Caffee Conrad. Now you continue walking until you reach the Blumenthalerhof. There begins the paved Ochsentodweg path # 29, which leads us slightly uphill to Thurnstein Castle and further along the asphalt road to St. Peter to Castle Tirol.
Return journey: steep descent via Brunnenburg or via Dorf Tirol (Gnaidweg) to Gratsch and via the Algunder Waalweg back to the starting point.
Via the Adige Valley, take the MeBo expressway to the Algund exit.
Coming from Vinschgau, Algund is just before Merano.
Hiking with children
Pay parking in the center of Algund, opposite the town hall.
By train to Merano and by bus line 235 or 213 to Algund.
