Winepath Algund
The vineyards along the Algunder Waal and the Schlundensteinweg are a special example of a cultural landscape shaped by the diligence of farmers. On the Algund Wine Trail, the history of the cultural and vineyard landscape comes to live here and is tangible for the hiker. The simple panels describe the Algunder Waal, the old grape varieties and the work of the vineyard watchman known as the Saltner. His job was to watch over the ripe harvest.
From the dairy in Algund, take path # 7 via Mitterplars - Castle Plars along the irrigation road. There, you will come to the start of the path # 21, which leads you through the forest to the Schlundenstein (large rock from the Ice Age). Turn right and make your way to Cafe Konrad (path # 26 A). Now you walk a few meters on the asphalted road towards Algund until the castle path # 20 branches off to the right. This wide paved path above Algund now leads us back to the valley station of the chairlift to Vellau. From there, take the pedestrian path along the road to Algund back to the village centre.
Via the Adige Valley, take the MeBo expressway to the Algund exit.
Coming from Vinschgau, Algund is just before Merano.
Pay parking in the center of Algund, opposite the town hall.
