Are there free parking options in Algund?
Yes, free parking is available on Marktstraße steet near the outdoor swimming pool and the mini-golf course.
You can also park for free for 1 hour in the underground garage at Hans Gamper square. After that, a parking fee applies.
Are there special hikes with dogs?
Whether you're strolling through vineyards and orchards, walking along one of the Waalweg canal trails or exploring higher altitudes – your furry companion is sure to feel at home here.

Please note, however: most hiking trails in South Tyrol require dogs to be kept on a leash by law – so don’t forget it. You should also carry a muzzle with you for any rides on cable cars, buses or trains, as both a leash and a muzzle are mandatory on public transport.
Can I use the South Tyrol GuestPass for arrival and departure as well?
Yes, the South Tyrol GuestPass can also be used for arrival and departure. Public transport operated by südtirolmobil (buses, regional trains, selected cable cars) is included. Long-distance trains (e.g. Railjet, Eurocity) are not included.
Does the South Tyrol GuestPass need to be validated for every ride?
Yes, the South Tyrol GuestPass must be validated at the beginning of each journey. Validation is done by scanning the QR code at the blue validation devices. For train and cable car rides, validation must take place before boarding. An "OK" on the display and a beep confirm successful validation.

Re-validation is not required when changing trains.
Dogs on public transport
Free of charge: guide dogs and small pets in carriers (70 x 30 x 50 cm)

Medium and large dogs, or dogs not transported in carriers, require a dog ticket. These are also available at the tourist office:
One-way ticket: €2.00
Day ticket: €3.50

Please note: leash and muzzle are mandatory on all public transport.

Transport of dogs on cable cars
Special pet fares apply on the cable cars to Colle, Verano, and Meltina.
For which period is my South Tyrol GuestPass valid?
The South Tyrol GuestPass is valid for the entire duration of your stay, starting at 00:00 on the day of arrival and ending at 23:59 on the day of departure.
How does bicycle transport work on public transport?
Bicycle transport on public transport is currently only possible with restrictions. Passenger transport takes priority, so bicycles can only be carried if there is enough space available.

The following types of bicycles are transported free of charge:
  • Children’s bike (under 20 inches);
  • Folding bike (folded) and unicycle (on the bus possibly in the luggage compartment or alternatively in a bag);
  • Bike trailer: transported free of charge on trains and detached from the bike;
  • Hand-bike / recumbent bike: transported free of charge on trains, on buses only if there is space in the luggage compartment.

Here is how bicycle transport works on different means of transport:

  • Regional trains: Around 16-20 bicycles can be transported in designated compartments on regional trains; seat reservations are not possible. Due to the high number of passengers during summer months, a separate bike shuttle service operates along the Merano – Malles rail line. You can find more information about the Bikeshuttle here.

  • Regional buses: Routes and stops where bicycles can be loaded onto buses are marked in the timetable with a bike symbol. E-bikes and pedelecs are not transported on these buses. From spring to late autumn, bike racks are available on the following bus lines: Line 273 Malles – Martina and Line 245 Merano – Lana – Ultimo.

  • City and urban buses: Bicycle transport is not permitted.

  • Cable cars: Bicycle transport on cable cars is generally allowed. The Ritten cable car follows the südtirolmobil tariff regulations (day ticket €7.00). For cable cars to Kohlern, Mölten, Vöran, and Maranza, special tickets are available. For all other cable cars, bicycle tickets cost between €5.00 and €8.00.

  • Ritten narrow-gauge railway: Bicycle transport is not permitted.

Where are the e-bike charging stations in Algund?
In the centre of the village of Algund there are three free charging stations to quickly and conveniently recharge the battery of your e-bike before embarking on the next tour. Not that you suddenly find yourself without fuel in the middle of the route - that would be very annoying. So, let's head for the e-bike charging stations!

Where:
  • In front of the town hall in Algund, to the left of the entrance (Hans Gamper Square 1).
  • In the parking garage on Josef Weingartner Street (left of the Hotel Tirolerhof)
  • At the church square next to the tourist office in front of the church (Hans Gamper Square 3).
How:
  • You can get a charging card at the Algund Tourist Office for a deposit of € 20.00, which can be used to open the charging boxes with the electricity connection.
Where are the e-car charging stations at Algund?
Algund has a good network of charging stations. If you arrive by electric car, you can conveniently refuel your car at one of the charging stations.

In the centre of Algund:
  • In the Hans-Gamper-Platz car park (opposite the Algund town hall).
The power is approx. 11 kW at 0.30 €/kWh. Tesla needs about 10 hours to be charged. Charge must be paid by credit card.

How does it work:
  • Option 1: Using Plugsurfing charging key (RFID), hold RFID key to reader.
  • Option 2: With registration: download Plugsurfing App
  • Option 3: Without registration: scan QR code and follow instructions.

Other charging stations:
  • Alperia fast-charging stations at the car park Brauerei Forst (Vinschgauerstraße 8)
  • in the ALGO shopping centre (9 a.m. - 8 p.m.)
  • Railway station in Merano
  • Merano Thermal Baths car park: There are two dedicated parking spaces with 22 KW connection (e-charging station) for electric cars on Floor A. Here you can pay the charging fee directly by credit card or Paypal after scanning a QR code. The charging station is operated by Alperia.
These stations are charged at 22 kW, so charging is faster.

How does it work:
  • Activate the charging pole - with your card, the Neogy app or your smartphone - for Direct Payment.
  • Follow the instructions on the display and connect the other end of the cable to the charging pole.
  • When charging is complete, finish the process with your card or app and disconnect the cable from the charging pole first and then from your car.
  • Click here for the interactive map of the Alperia charging stations
Where can I buy postcards and stamps?
You can easily buy postcards and stamps at the Algund Tourist Office. Right next to the town hall, there is a post office with a mailbox where you can send your postcards.
Where can I buy the Vignette for Austria?
  • Brennero: You can buy the Vignette at the roadhouse Lanz at the Brenner right before the border to Austria. Shortly after the border you can get the Vignette at the OMV gas station Rosenberger. The last opportunity to get the Vignette is at the Shell gas station at the Europabrücke (the gas station is located on the left side oft he road, therefore you really need to look out for the right exit!).
  • Reschenpass/Passo Resia: After passing the border to Austria you will find the BP gas station on the left side of the road. You can buy the Vignette there.
  • You can also buy the Vignette online at shop.asfinag.at/. Please note the 18 day waiting period! The Vignette is valid no earlier than 18 days after purchase thus is most likely not the right option for holidays.
  • You can find further sales offices at www.asfinag.at/maut-vignette/vertriebsstellen/.
