We have footpaths around every corner, the mountains are right on our doorstep and there are about 300 days of sunshine per year. If you’re planning to spend a hiking holiday in Algund near Merano, go ahead and set your expectations high. Hundreds of paths in the valley and the mountains, from the Algund Waalweg (which is practically flat), the Merano High Alpine Trail (Meraner Höhenweg), to the urban Kurpromenade in Merano. Guided tours which start right outside the tourist office, retro elevators such as the basket cable car on the Leiter Alm alpine pasture and picture-book countryside in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park. You will love trekking around Merano the whole year round – it’s not surprising that hiking is one of the most popular holiday highlights among our guests.

It’s worth taking a second glance when hiking in Algund and the surrounding area. You can’t help noticing the fabulous variety of plants blossoming at the edge of the paths. Orchards and vineyards extend to the foot of the mountains; palm trees grow next to conifers and cultivated gardens flow into alpine flower meadows. You can even admire exotic plants – taking a walk along the Tappeinerweg is the best way to see them!
