Interview with Omar Visintin on the upcoming Olympics

Tourist Office Algund: For many athletes, the Olympics are the ultimate dream. How did you experience your previous Olympic Games, and what does competing in 2026 mean to you?
Omar Visintin: The Olympic Games are the big dream for most athletes. I’ve taken part in three Games so far, and I have to say – each one was different. The first Games are, of course, something very special. That first participation is very exciting, and you try to take in as many great impressions as possible. I had to wait until my third Games for a medal, but it was definitely worth it. Now my fourth Games are coming up, and having them at home in Italy makes it all the more special. You wait four years for this moment – which means 16 years for me in total. I feel very grateful to still be part of the scene and I’m going to enjoy these Games in a very special way.

Tourist Office Algund: What emotions do you personally associate with the moment you line up at the start for Italy?
Omar Visintin: That moment is always a bit two-sided. On one hand, it’s filled with stress and excitement, but on the other hand, I really enjoy standing up there and being able to give my best.

Tourist Office Algund: How are you preparing for the Games – both physically and mentally?
Omar Visintin: Honestly, not much different from previous years. I had good dryland training this summer, and now I’m ready for training on snow. I managed to improve a few small details in my preparation, and I can’t wait to finally get started.

Tourist Office Algund: What message would you give to young athletes in Algund who may be dreaming of the Olympics themselves?
Omar Visintin: That’s simple: Never lose faith – and keep going!

Tourist Office Algund: Thank you, Omar, for taking the time. We wish you all the best for the 2026 Olympics!
