Algund Crowns the Most Beautiful Natural Gardens 2025

Algund Crowns the Most Beautiful Natural Gardens 2025

From blossoms to roots: 14 green heroes in the spotlight

Natural Garden Competition Algund 2025: Raabenhof and Hausbacherhof named winners

14 gardens demonstrate how biodiversity and sustainability are lived in Algund:
Algund, September 29, 2025 – For the second time, the Algund Tourist Association hosted the Natural Garden Competition, sending a strong signal in favor of eco-friendly gardening and everyday sustainability. Fourteen participants, ranging from traditional farms to private garden estates, were evaluated by a panel of garden and landscape experts as well as municipal representatives.

Two categories, many winners
In the category “Gardens and Park Facilities”, Raabenhof impressed, taking first place. Close behind was Untermairhof, followed by Dorfweber in third place.
In the category “Farm and Utility Gardens”, Hausbacherhof claimed victory, followed by Raabenhof—demonstrating excellence in both categories—and Grieserhof in third place.

More than just beautiful gardens
“What we see here are not simply well-tended gardens; they are living examples of how sustainability can be practiced in everyday life,” explains Barbara Meraner, Head of PR and Sustainability at the Algund Tourist Association. “Each garden tells its own story of people who understand that true nature conservation begins right at your doorstep.”

The participating gardens impressed with their diversity: buzzing bees, fragrant herb spirals, traditional cottage gardens, and innovative concepts for increased biodiversity clearly showcased what eco-friendly gardening looks like in practice.

A success story with wide impact
Particularly noteworthy: last year’s winners, Maratscher Hotel and D.A. Genussgarten, received the official “Nature in the Garden” plaque this year from Laimburg in cooperation with the Province of South Tyrol—a clear sign that Algund’s commitment to natural gardening is gaining recognition beyond the region.
With the Natural Garden Competition, Algund is making an important statement for biodiversity and sustainable action. The award-winning gardens show impressively that sustainability does not have to remain theory, but can be successfully implemented in daily life.
