Due to asphalting work, the following sections of the cycle path in Passeier Valley will be closed from 09.03.2026 to 27.03.2026:

Further closures

Closure of the Old Provincial Road

Period: from 27.02 to 14.08.2026

In the section from house number 11/13 to house number 34 for the period from 27.02.2026 to 14.08.2026 all day (00:00–24:00), due to the construction of an inter-municipal cycle path Merano-Algund together with the construction of primary infrastructure on the Old Provincial Road in the area from Josef Weingartner Street to St. Hippolyt Street.

Temporary traffic restrictions on Alte Landstraße, Algund

Period: from 23/12/2025 to 31/03/2026

Please be advised of temporary traffic restrictions (including an alternating one-way traffic system) on Alte Landstraße between house numbers 2 and 34. These restrictions will be in effect 24/7 (00:00–24:00) from December 23, 2025, to March 31, 2026. This is due to the construction of the Meran-Algund inter-municipal cycle path and the development of primary infrastructure on Alte Landstraße, specifically in the area between Josef-Weingartner-Straße and St.-Hippolyt-Straße.

Closure of the “Kirchweg” trail

Period: 01/11/2025 to 10/04/2026

Closure of the “Kirchweg” trail in the section between Breitofen Street 9a (Hotel “Fayn”) and Rosengarten Street due to expansion work on the “Molino” stream, from Saturday, November 1, 2025, until Friday, April 10, 2026.

Vinschgau railway line

From March 29, 2026, train services in the lower Vinschgau will be gradually resumed

Initially, a trial operation with passengers is planned on an hourly basis. Some trains in the morning and evening hours will run through to Mals. In parallel, the proven replacement bus service (line B250) at half-hourly intervals will continue and complement the train service until April 17, 2026 inclusive.

After successful completion of the first test phase with hourly service and high reliability of the modernized route and vehicles, the subsequent phase 2 will be initiated. In this phase, rail operations in the lower Vinschgau will resume the usual half-hourly frequency and the previous replacement bus service on this section will be discontinued. On the Laas–Mals section, a replacement bus service will continue to operate. The B250 replacement buses run at half-hourly intervals during the day and hourly in the evening.

The replacement buses are marked with line number B250 and carry an orange sign with the rail replacement service pictogram. The stops served are marked with the following orange additional sign with the replacement service pictogram. To ensure short and attractive journey times and reliably maintain connecting services, not all stations along the route will be served. More detailed information here.

More detailed information can be found here.

Alternative options for cyclists and guests:
Due to the journey times to be observed, the special stop situations, and the vehicles used, it is unfortunately not possible to transport bicycles and bicycle trailers on the replacement buses. Folding bikes and e-scooters, however, may be carried as luggage when folded.

  • From March 29, 2026, bicycles can again be taken on trains running at hourly intervals.
  • From April 18, 2026, the usual Bikeliner service will also start on the Merano–Mals section. This is a minibus with bicycle trailer that shuttles four times daily between Merano and Mals and helps relieve the Vinschgau Railway trains.

Construction on the new Lueg Bridge

from 2025 to approximately 2028

After more than 55 years, the Lueg Bridge along the A13 Brenner motorway has reached the end of its service life. For road safety reasons and to relieve the bridge, a single-lane traffic flow in both directions has been in effect since January 1st, 2025. To reduce long delays and traffic jams on days with heavy traffic, a temporary two-lane flow will be established through special traffic management.

Construction work on Reschenstraße street with local diversion

Construction work on Reschenstraße street with local diversion

Period: End September 2024 to the End 2026

Construction work on the rockfall gallery between the Reschen Pass and Pfunds began in early September and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026.

The diversion for cars is via the Engadiner (B184) and Martinsbrucker Straße (B185) and therefore partly via Swiss territory. Trucks, vehicles with trailers over 6.5 metres and buses over 13 metres are not allowed to use this route. They must wait for the closures or take a wide detour. Motorhomes are not subject to any restrictions and may use the diversions route.

Good news: the Reschen Pass will remain open to two lanes around the public holiday on 3 October (German Unity Day).
This diversion via the Engadiner Straße (B184) and the Martinsbrucker Straße (B185) will take about 10 minutes longer than the regular route, depending on the volume of traffic.
The Reschenpass itself is not affected by the closure!
