At its highest point, the Orenknott lookout peak, this hike offers a fantastic panorama from the Merano basin to the glaciers of the Ortler group. Depending on the weather, the view reaches as far as the Dolomites.
The hike begins at the top station of the Texelbahn in Partschins. From the Giggelberg inn, follow the signs for Nr. 2 steadily rising in a westerly direction. The attentive hiker will come across the remains of an old whale on the way to the Adlerhorst Hut. Through light forest you finally reach a gorge with a fork in the road. In the further course one follows now the path Nr. 25a. ( The path no. 2 continues on to the finish line - see page 82. Continuing uphill you reach another signpost that already announces the Orenknott. Here, one turns right and finally reaches the 2. 258 m high summit with a wonderful small viewing plateau and the distinctive weather cross. The way back leads first a part of the ascent path back to the last crossroads. Then follow the marker no. 25 in direction Orenalm and Hochforch. Passing the crumbling Orenalm you descend relatively steeply to Hochforch on the Meraner Höhenweg at 1,555 m. From Hochforch follow the Höhenweg back to the top station of the Texelbahn, which takes you down into the valley.
